Girl, the last time I played this, I used her so much. Underrated, under-appreciated.

The inclusion of Stiltzkin, Mog and Cid gain this major points. The inclusion of Girl from Terra and the exclusion of Tantalus does not.

I made personal history tonight
I beat a Final Fantasy game. I rarely beat games. It’s almost a policy, really. I tend to not want games to end, but lately, I’ve tried to complete them, to get the fullest experience. Final Fantasy IX was the first of the series I ever played. The series is extremely important to me, as a pastime, and as more. For the past 10 or so years, I’ve played them on and off, and this one, in particular, I know like the back of my hand. I think it’s rather poetic that the first I played is the first I completed. And no, it’s not the first video game I’ve ever beaten, haha. The game is not perfect, I wouldn’t ask it to be. But for the past 10+ years, it’s been in the back of my mind, and thinking of that gleaming spire in Alexandria, of Vivi adjusting his hat, Zidane promising to kidnap the Princess, of Garnet’s saccharine song, and Steiner’s clanky armor and stalwart, awkward dialogue gives my heart something particular. It’s one of my favorite games, and it’s a lovely thing knowing that I can come back again. This feels strange, kind of bittersweet, kind of bad almost, but ultimately, pretty damn good.

Now what the heck am I gonna play next?
